Orchestral Music Composer
Hi there! My name is Skyler Newsome, and I am a music composer with over 15 years of experience playing guitar and writing my own music. I spent my childhood watching my dad play video games, and throughout our shared experience in those days, I grew to love the power that video game soundtracks had to enhance a story and foster emotion.
I began playing guitar in middle school, and used it as the basis for growing my understanding of music theory and composition until I picked up cello in my late high school years. Throughout my time in the education system, I took every opportunity to immerse myself in music theory, composition, orchestration and production, taking as many classes as I could in high school and at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. In late 2020, I began creating an orchestral soundtrack for my home game of Dungeons and Dragons, and from there began helping others tell stories with custom music for their own games. As my knowledge grows and my style and skills are refined, I am now moving towards a focus on creating music for video games. I put my entire being into every project I take on, and I truly believe video game soundtracks are some of the most moving pieces of art in the world.
My current standard rate per minute of finished music, whether loops or standalone tracks, is $300. This rate is subject to be lower or higher depending on the demand of the job. My standard amount of revisions is 3, and only revisions based on your feedback and input are counted towards this number. I will occasionally revise pieces myself to make them better, and I will not hold you accountable for any changes I make while experimenting or rolling back revisions I have made based on your feedback. If, after our business is concluded, you find yourself in need of a change or additional music, I will be here to support your project to the end. I specialize in orchestral music for fantasy RPGs, but am willing to branch out to other genres if I feel I can do your project justice.
If you’d like to chat I am always available, even just to talk video games!
